Symposium Report 2026

The 10th Symposium highlighted the need to strengthen pathways into philanthropy, build donor confidence, foster collaboration, embrace long-term giving, support next-generation leadership.

The 10th Philanthropy Ireland Symposium, held at the RDS in 2026, brought together 151 attendees for a day of Leadership, Learning and Legacy. Marking a decade of conversation and connection, the Symposium explored how to strengthen philanthropy in Ireland and build better pathways from generosity to meaningful social impact.

Drawing on emerging research, expert insights and practical experiences, discussions examined the philanthropy ecosystem, donor confidence, family philanthropy, intergenerational leadership, trust-based funding and impactful giving. Speakers highlighted the importance of collaboration, long-term thinking, evidence, community engagement and stronger relationships between funders, advisers, nonprofits and policymakers.

Looking ahead, the Symposium challenged the sector to be more ambitious, strengthen shared infrastructure, encourage greater philanthropic participation and support communities to create lasting change.

This report captures the key insights, reflections and questions from the day, while outlining Philanthropy Ireland's next steps, including four research reports to deepen understanding of giving, wealth, family philanthropy, professional advice and philanthropic capital in Ireland.
